Good evening, I’m still reporting on: Mueller Indicts 13 Russian Trolls for Nothing, 2060
Synopsis: Special Counsel Robert Mueller, after submitting a budget request for an additional $10 million to continue his work for the next year, just indicted 13 Russian trolls for trying to disrupt the 2016 elections in the United States.
In what must rank high in the history of worthless American legal processes, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein heralded the indictments during yesterday’s press conference as a great victory for liberty.
Unfortunately, Rosenstein had to admit that no Americans were knowingly interacting with the Russians who were posing as Americans on the Internet. He also admitted that the Russians had no impact on the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election.
Oh, one more thing, none of the indictees are ever expected to be extradited from Russia so there is no chance of them facing trial.
Then why do it? To make it look like they are doing something. This is a perfectly safe play for Mueller. He captures the news cycle for an entire weekend with no threat of the accused ever facing an actual trial. If Mueller would have to actually have to bring them to trail he would undoubtedly face humiliating losses as judges across the land would strike them down because they were so weak they would be called out as baseless prosecutions they actually are.
