In 2009, a salmonella outbreak sickened over 700 people and killed 9 across the US. Now, the plant owners are standing trial for it. The plant manager at the time of the outbreak just testified and admitted the factory intentionally faked lab results. They didn’t want to wait the 48 hours it takes to get results back. They wanted to make sure Kellogg’s got their stupid peanut paste. That’s why people lost their lives. The Resident discusses.

Press continue to wait outside the Ecuadorian embassy Tuesday after WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange announced he will “soon” be leaving it for the first time in two years, Monday.

Assange originally requested political asylum due to an ongoing US investigation into WikiLeaks. He could however also face extradition to Sweden, as he is wanted for questioning over two alleged sexual assaults. Rumours of Assange leaving the embassy due to health problems have been denied by him.

Police has stood 24 hour guard at the Ecuadorian embassy since Assange’s arrival, costing the UK tax payer £6.4m (7,99 EUR/ 10,65 USD).

International human rights observers are descending on Ferguson, MO to monitor the conditions and ensure protesters and journalists are treated fairly amidst the ongoing unrest. Amongst the most well-known groups is Amnesty International, which has been on the ground with a 13 person team since Thursday.
