Rallies were held across the world Thursday to commemorate the May Day holiday. Most rallies were peaceful, but clashes broke out with police in some cities such as Istanbul, Turkey. The message conveyed by activists varied depending on the country and city, with those in New York City advocating for gender and income equality, immigration rights and a better minimum wage. RT’s Marina Portnaya attended the New York event and spoke to some of the attendees.
