After 20 years of battling the US government for use of his family’s land, a Nevada rancher’s “one-man range war” may soon end. The family says heavily-armed federal agents have surrounded the ranch as “trespass cattle” are removed from the disputed land.
Cliven Bundy – the “last rancher in Clark County, Nevada” – has since 1993 refused to pay fees to the federal government for the right to raise cattle on land his family has ranched since the 1870s, according to the Washington Free Beacon.
After years of legal wrangling, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) attained a federal court order to have Bundy’s nearly 1,000 head of cattle removed, according to the family.
Bundy says the government is taking the task seriously, arming the agents with military-style weaponry.
“They’re carrying the same things a soldier would,” he told the Free Beacon. “Automatic weapons, sniper rifles, top communication, top surveillance equipment, lots of vehicles. It’s heavy soldier type equipment.”
Carol Bundy, Cliven’s wife, said hundreds of armed BLM and FBI agents are set up around their property, as helicopters circle the area, and nearby roads remain off limits.
“We’re surrounded,” Carol Bundy said. “We’re estimating that there are over 200 armed BLM, FBI. We’ve got surveillance cameras at our house, they’re probably listening to me talk to you right now.”
As of Monday, the government agents and their contractors have seized 234 of the 908 cattle. The removal will cost the federal government as much as US$3 million, the Free Beacon reported.
Feds Invade Nevada Ranch, Seize Cattle in Grazing Controversy
Bundy, 68, has been in a two-decade battle with the BLM over allowing his cattle to graze on public lands that surround his farm without paying grazing fees. The BLM finally decided to round up and seize the cattle, and closed the land until May 12 to give them time to get all the beef cows.
The herd has grown since 1993 and Bundy flatly refuses to pay the grazing fees, saying the family has been there since since 1870, well before the creation of the BLM in 1946. When the BLM came to round up the cows the family made a call for help.
“YOU HAVE BEEN ASKING WHAT YOU CAN DO! AND NOW ITS TIME!” they wrote on the Bundy family blog Sunday. “They have my cattle and now they have one of my boys. Range War begins at Bundy ranch at 9:30 a.m.”
Bundy said they brought tanks and assault rifles.
“They’re carrying the same things a soldier would,” he said. “Automatic weapons, sniper rifles, top communication, top surveillance equipment, lots of vehicles. It’s heavy soldier type equipment.”

Approximately 11:00a.m. this date, the Arizona Legislature passed a
Resolution of Support to the Bundy family and against the heavy-handed
tactics of the U.S. Government, especially the Bureau of Land Management
(BLM) in the seizure of grazing land used by the Bundy’s since the late
1880’s in Clark County, Nevada. The resolution is signed by members of
the Arizona House of Representatives standing against any and all
violations of State sovereignty and violations of the U.S. Constitution
by the Federal Government. This resolution is to be hand carried this
weekend and delivered to members of the Nevada State Legislature in
support of their right to protect State and local sovereignty.
With his Nevada ranch surrounded by helicopters, four-wheel-drive vehicles and an estimated 200 armed officers of the federal Bureau of Land Management, Cliven Bundy is drawing support from the governor and other prominent political leaders along with a host of protesters from other states, including fellow cattle ranchers and private armed militias.
At least three people have been arrested, and militias have made the confrontation over Bundy’s use of federal land for grazing a rally cry.
My great grandpa bought the rights to the Bunkerville allotment back in 1887 around there. Then he sold them to my grandpa who then turned them over to my dad in 1972.
These men bought and paid for their rights to the range and also built waters, fences and roads to assure the survival of their cattle, all with their own money, not with tax dollars.
These rights to the land use is called preemptive rights.
Some where down the line, to keep the cows from over grazing, came the bureau of land management. They were supposed to assist the ranchers in the management of their ranges while the ranchers paid a yearly allotment which was to be use to pay the BLM wages and to help with repairs and improvements of the ranches.
My dad did pay his grazing fees for years to the BLM until they were no longer using his fees to help him and to improve.
Instead they began using these money’s against the ranchers.

I do not encourage violence. However it is clear that the Federal Government intends to use violence to enforce its unconstitutional wishes against the Bundys, in order to please political cronies. If enough people show up, the government may back down rather than risk open conflict with the people they might lose before the eyes of the world. But if indeed the government creates a bloody mess at the Bundy Ranch in the hopes of teaching us uppity slaves a lesson, they will still lose, for the Federal Government will have destroyed their own legitimacy and moral authority. Again before the eyes of the world. This is a no-win situation either way and the only thing the federal Government can control is the final body count. The real danger is that we already know from Obamacare and Human-Caused Global Warming that the federal Government is institutionally incapable of admitting error or changing course. From the phone calls and emails I am receiving, it appears Americans are at the breaking point, and open conflict at the Bundy ranch could very easily spark nationwide riots that would extend beyond what the Federal Government could control.
