The Pentagon’s Military Strategy Does Not Focus on Russia

Russia has shocked the world by sending troops into Ukraine, and a new Defense Department long-term threat assessment proves that the U.S. military was no exception.

The department released its Quadrennial Defense Review on Tuesday, and in all of its 64 pages, only one paragraph of the sweeping U.S. military strategy outlines the possible risks Russia may pose to Washington’s or its allies’ interests:

American intelligence agencies disagreed on Russia threat in Ukraine

U.S. intelligence agencies disagreed on whether Russian President Vladimir Putin would order military intervention last week in Ukraine, officials said Tuesday, and the House Intelligence Committee is examining what caused the differing analyses.

“We have begun a review to see what pieces were missing here,” said Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) who chairs the House Intelligence Committee.

Lawmakers who read the competing intelligence analyses say they were given little guidance of what to believe, and were surprised last Friday when the Russians began taking control of border posts, airports and regional government facilities in Crimea.

Democratic presidential candidate accuses US of provoking Ukrainian crisis

Diverting from the typical Western line against “Russia’s invasion of Crimea,” former Ohio congressman and Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich said it was driven by covert action by the United States.

Kucinich made the comments Tuesday evening while speaking to Fox News host Bill O’Reilly, arguing American meddling in Ukraine’s affairs is what sparked the current situation in the first place and that Ukrainians were being exploited by Western powers.

Asked how he’d handle the tense standoff if he were president, Kucinich said the following:

“What I’d do is not have USAID and the National Endowment for Democracy working with U.S. taxpayers’ money to knock off an elected government in Ukraine, which is what they did. I wouldn’t try to force the people of Ukraine into a deal with NATO against their interest or into a deal with the European Union, which is against their economic interest.”

WRH’s Commentary:

Good for Kucinich! In the absence of Ron Paul, Dennis gets my vote!

Coup in Ukraine illustrates U.S. addiction to meddling and regime change

The protesters largely bickering about whether or not to join the European Union, a corrupt entity created by an even more corrupt entity known as the Bilderberg Group, were eventually shown to have largely felt the sting of think tanks and questionable organizations like CANVAS, “USAID, NED, Freedom House, George Soros’ Open Society Institute and a host of public-private NGOs”.  There also turned out to be neo-nazi elements involved in the “uprising”.

Ukraine: What is Really Happening

One thing I’m sure of is that media accounts available in the United States are so tainted by anti-Russia and U.S. nationalist and capitalist interests that we have no idea of what is really happening in Ukraine.

US Imperialism, Ukraine and the Danger of World War III

Are we standing on the brink of a nuclear war? That is the question that everyone should be asking.

The US-backed coup in Ukraine has triggered the most dangerous international crisis since the Cuban missile crisis of October 1962. American and European officials are denouncing Russia for sending troops into Crimea in response to the installation of an anti-Russian regime in Ukraine that has seized power through a coup d’état staged by fascist militia.
